NuStat® OTC is made from a blend of highly effective, non-impregnated, cellulose and silica-based hemostatic fibers. The cellulose fibers promote the contact activation pathway of the coagulation cascade by absorbing blood fluids, resulting in the localized concentration of platelets and clotting factors.
NuStat® OTC requires no preparation, is durable, absorbent, easy to apply and control bleeding rapidly. NuStat® OTC contains no coatings, latex or animal proteins.

Indications:
NuStat® is a single-use hemostatic wound dressing applied externally with mechanical compression to temporarily control bleeding in lacerations, punctures, abrasions, surgical wounds (operative, postoperative, dermatological, etc.) and traumatic injuries.

Conclusions: NuStat® is efficacious for immediate control of life-threat¬ening hemorrhage in a well-described and validated, traumatic, 5.5mm punch arteriotomy porcine model. NuStat® required less resuscitation fluid and allowed less blood loss after dressing application over the course of the 60-minute observation window. NuStat® had trends toward superiority over Quikclot® Combat Gauze in all additional primary and secondary metrics outcomes; however, these trends failed to reach statistical significance. In this study, NuStat® showed superiority or equivalence to Quikclot® Combat Gauze for all metrics evaluated
